Giovanni Panerai was the founder of Panerai watches
in 1860 and opened his first watchmaker's shop in Florence
Italy on the Ponte alle Grazie and established a union with
the most prestigious Swiss watch manufacturers in the world.
In 1890, the Panerai watch company specialized in high precision
mechanisms and became the official supplier of wrist compasses,
Radiomir watches and underwater wrist depth gauges to the
Royal Italian Navy. Today the company has moved to Piazza
San Giovanni where they sell all sorts of Panerai men’s
and ladies wristwatches at the Panerai boutique.
The Panerai watch collection includes Luminor Base, Marina,
automatic, GMT, Chrono, Radiomir and special additions. Most
Panerai Luminor watches are water resistant to a depth of
300 meters, equipped with a rotating, unidirectional bezel
divided into sixty markers to calculate immersion times. A
feature of Panerai Radiomir watches are the wire loops, which
are welded to the case, then attached by an exclusive system
of screws developed by Panerai permitting easy replacement
of the watchstrap.
Panerai currently uses two rare metals in their watches.
Titanium and Tantalum both are know for it’s resistance
properties, strength, lightness, non-magnetic, hypoallergenic
and resistant to corrosion by seawater or chemicals.
If you would like more information on Panerai timepieces,
