Hamilton watches are widely recognized as
the first company to introduce the first electric watch. Since
the birth of Hamilton wristwatches, they have been marked
with innovative designs and superior craftsmanship. No longer
in production, many Hamilton models have become collectors
items.
The Hamilton Watch Company began production in 1894. The
company first made pocket watches and then ventured into the
wristwatch market shortly after WW II. Hamilton actually pioneered
the wristwatch concept. The company spent a lot of time selling
the idea to other jewels. No one was using a wristwatch, so
they were unsure of its practicality. Looking at the popularity
of the wristwatch today, they must have done a pretty good
job of convincing people!
